WIC Grocery and Pharmacy Vendor Authorization

In Wisconsin, grocery stores and pharmacies must be authorized to sell food and infant formulas to WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) Program participants.

Prerequisites

Grocery and pharmacy vendors must:

  • Be located in Wisconsin.
  • Have a set location and regular hours of operation.
  • Charge fair prices for WIC foods. Prices for WIC foods must not be more than 115% of the average price other vendors charge in the Local WIC Project Service Area.
  • Have enough WIC foods stocked.
  • Have a good history with WIC, SNAP/FoodShare Program, and other food and nutrition programs from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
  • Have a satisfactory site visit.
  • Complete a training session.

  • Proof of business ownership
  • License as a retail food establishment or pharmacy license
  • Registration with the Department of Financial Institutions of any corporation or partnership
